The President of one of the prestigious clubs in Ikorodu Division, The Exclusives, Mr Omobolaji Osinowo, has lamented the passage of a former General Secretary of the Exclusives Club, Prince Rotimi Onabanjo, statin that he was going to be missed dearly.
Mr Osinowo said that the club will miss Prince Onabanjo who aspired to be the Ayangbure of Ikorodu about 10 years ago before the incumbent was picked by the Kingmakers, as a man who was full of life, always smiling and an amiable personality.

The Exclusives Club President shared his thoughts about Prince Onabanjo who died after illness in the United Kingdom (UK) on April 20th, 2026, where he had relocated to about two years ago to settle his family, with THE IMPACT in an interview held at the club’s house at Ita -Elewa, Ikorodu.
“He was a young man, just 55 and it was too early for him to go but who can question God. I learnt he was a bit ill. May God rest his soul and bless his family and children, especially his wife who has been going through a lot.”

The Exclusives Club President who recalled Onabanjo’s strong personality, explained that his sojourn to the UK was only to settle his family and give them a good life before his planned return to Nigeria which will now never happen again.
“He was an amiable person; always smiling and full of life.
“He was one of the candidates for Obaship in Ikorodu at that time and was very hopeful, but what happened happened, and he lived his life very well.
“The unfortunate thing is that he had planned to relocate because of the way the country was going and I am sure if he knew he was going to end up where he is he wouldn’t have gone.

“He actually left about two year ago with his wife and his kids seeking a better life for them over there and what he always said was that he wanted to relocate his family and stay with them for about a year or two and then come back to Nigeria. He planned to keep going to them and coming back because he said that he couldn’t live in the UK.
“He just wanted a good life for his wife and kids over there. He wanted a better future but unfortunately, life had other plans.”
Recalling the personality of the club’s former Secretary and how the club will miss him, Mr Osinowo said:

“We will miss a lot about him. Like I said, he was full of life, always smiling, very amiable. He was a problem solver in his own way and was liked by everyone. His demise will affect many members of the club because the meetings won’t be the same again without him and we are going to miss him.”
Mr Osinowo revealed that the club is part of the plans to give late Prince Rotimi Onabanjo a befitting burial at the Patriarch Mobolaji Methodist Cathedral Church of Nigeria, Ita -Elewa, Ikorodu on the 6th of June, 2026.
